His coach, Hendrawan, said Zii Jia had bleeding in the sole of his foot, so he could not continue the game.
"It was the bleeding he got from the fight against Hans Vittinghus. The next morning, he said he was still injured. We covered the injured area with a bandage," said Hendrawan.
"When Zii Jia fought against Antonsen, blood started to come out after the second game. He asked the doctor to put a bandage on, but it did not reduce the pain."
Even so, Hendrawan still appreciated Zii Jia for trying to give the best performance at the event.
"I believe Zii Jia has given his maximum performance during the 2021 World Championships," he said.
Zii Jia had several injuries during the 2021 calendar. He retired at least twice before the 2021 World Championships.
In the 2021 Hylo Open finals, Zii Jia chose to withdraw when playing against Loh Kean Yew from Singapore due to an injury. The same thing also happened at the 2021 Indonesia Masters when he played against Rasmus Gemke from Denmark. (ts/mcr15/mcr20/jpnn)
