Axelsen's success over Momota cannot be separated from his win at the 2021 Indonesia Open after defeating Singaporean prodigy Loh Kean Yew with a score of 21-13, 9-21, and 21-13.

Throughout the 2021 calendar, Axelsen and Momota have had very different seasons.

Meanwhile, Momota has only won one tournament in 2021, namely the Indonesia Masters, which took place a few weeks ago.

Momota had indeed been ranked number one in the BWF since September 2018.

Momota and Axelsen's rivalry will be again presented at the 2021 BWF World Tour Finals because both players are in the same group, namely Group A, along with Rasmus Gemke from Denmark and Lakshya Sen from India. (mcr15/mcr20/jpnn)
