Indonesia Masters Top 32: Ginting Eliminated, Jojo, The Daddies Triumph

jpnn.com, BALI - Of the 17 representative single players or pairs who competed on the second day of the 2021 Indonesia Masters, Wednesday (17/11), seven advanced to the top 16.

They included Jonatan Christie and Shesar Hiren Rhustavito for men's single, Panjer Aji Siloka Dadiara and Bryan Sydney Elohim, Pramudya Kusumawardana and Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan, and Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan for the men's doubles.

For the mixed doubles category, there were Hafiz Faizal and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, as well as Adnan Maulana and Mychelle Crhystine Bandaso.

Meanwhile, several Indonesian mainstay players, such as Anthony Sinisuka Ginting (men's singles), Gregoria Mariska Tunjung (women's singles), and Praveen Jordan and Melati Daeva Oktavianti (mixed doubles) were eliminated.

Praveen and Melati were beaten by representatives of India, Dhruv Kapila and Reddy N. Sikki, with a score of 11-21 and 20-22.

Gregoria, who played tight against Sayaka Takahashi from Japan, fought through a three-game battle with a score of 18-21, 21-11, and 20-22.

The defending Indonesia Masters champion, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, was defeated by Thailand's representative, Kunvalut Vitidsarn, also through a three-game battle, 21-19, 14-21, and 13-21.

Luckily, players like Ahsan and Hendra, Hafiz and Gloria, Jonatan Christie, and Shesar Hiren Rhustavito managed to escape the eye of the needle in the top 32.

Ahsan and Hendra, a.k.a The Daddies, successfully advanced to the next round after defeating Christo Popov and Toma Junior Popov from France, with a score of 21-17 and 21-14.

Hafiz and Gloria defeated Indian players Reddy B. Sumeeth and Ashwini Ponnappa, with a score of 21-15 and 21-16.
