TransJakarta Admits Some Drivers Still Speed Despite Frequent Accidents

jpnn.com, JAKARTA - In the light of prevelant traffic accidents involving TransJakarta buses, the company has admitted that some of its drivers often ride at a speed above the maximum limit.

TransJakarta president director M. Yana Aditya said that according to the their standard operating procedure, TransJakarta drivers were not allowed to drive a bus more than 50 kilometers per hour.

In order to prevent accidents, Yana continued, the company had installed CCTV on each bus to monitor drivers.

"Every time they exceed the speed limit, there will be a call or warning. Indeed, this requires discipline," said Yana.

In the past week alone, there were two accidents involving TransJakarta.

On Thursday (2/12) at 12.55 p.m., a bus operating in Corridor 5, namely the PGC-Harmoni sector, crashed into a police post in the PGC Cililitan area, East Jakarta, injuring one person.

Meanwhile, on Friday (3/12) at 11.40 a.m., a bus operating in Corridor 1, namely the Blok M-Jakarta Kota sector, crashed into the concrete lane barrier near the Senayan roundabout. (cr1/mcr20/jpnn)
