jpnn.com, JAKARTA - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati is preparing to restructure the state budget next year.
This was stated during an event on the Law on the Harmonization of Tax Regulations involving prominent taxpayers in the West Java region, Friday.

According to Sri, the state budget has worked extraordinarily hard since the pandemic hit, with its deficit reaching 6.14 percent in 2020 and 5.7 percent in 2021.
The deficit in 2022 is set to be lowered to 4.85 percent. Otherwise, Sri said, it could lead to an economic crisis.

"We have seen many countries experiencing this and we do not want Indonesia to be in that position," said Sri.
She said the state budget should not be a source of problems for dealing with Covid-19 and that restructuring it could stabilize social and economic conditions.

"The restructuring of the state budget is to be carried out in a measurable and gradual manner. The goal is for the community to recover, the economy to be strong again, and the state budget itself to be healthy again," said Sri.
Sri said the government, together with the House of Representatives (DPR), was designing a tax reform contained in the Law on Harmonization of Tax Regulations.
She said the law was certainly important for the community as it was supportive of the poor and small businesses.
"When we talk about taxes, people immediately feel burdened. Not anymore," said Sri. (antara/mcr20/jpnn)
