jpnn.com, JAKARTA - Vaccination for Indonesian children aged 6 to 11 years will soon be carried out, according to the Health Ministry.
The ministry's acting director general of disease prevention and control, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, said that the vaccination would begin on Tuesday (14/12).

"We expect to kick off the vaccination in several areas on Tuesday. We will gradually vaccinate all children aged 6 to 11 years, which based on the data amount to 26.8 million, until next year,” said Maxi, Sunday (12/12).
Recently, the Indonesian Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (ITAGI) provided recommendations for Covid-19 vaccination for children aged 6 to 11 years.

The first stage of vaccination will be carried out in provinces, regencies, and cities where the first dose vaccination of the general public has reached above 70 percent and the elderly vaccination has covered above 60 percent.
Some provinces that have passed these criteria are Banten, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, East Kalimantan, Riau Islands, West Nusa Tenggara, North Sulawesi, and Bali.

The children will be given the Chinese Sinovac vaccine. A total of 6.4 million doses of Sinovac will be injected until the end of December 2021.
"Then, in January 2022, there will be an additional Sinovac vaccine from the director general of pharmacy," said Maxi.
Starting 2022, Maxi said, the Sinovac vaccine would only be used for children. (mcr9/mcr20/jpnn)
