Jokowi Asks Listyo to Replace Police Chiefs Who Overlook Investments

jpnn.com, BALI - President Joko Widodo has asked National Police chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to make sure all regional police chiefs in Indonesia to safeguard all existed or on-process investments.

He also asked Listyo to even replace those who could not fulfill such assignment.

"I've also instructed the National Police chief to warn regional police chiefs," said Jokowi in Badung Regency, Bali, Friday (12/3).

"If you can't oversee, you can't solve things related to the big agenda of our country, sorry, you will be replaced," Jokowi continued.

On that occasion, Jokowi asked the National Police to guard and maintain all matters related to investments in the country.

According to Jokowi, the engine of national economic growth is investments, not the state budget.

This year, he said, the country's investment target reached Rp 900 trillion. In 2022, Jokowi continued, the target would be Rp 1,200 trillion.

According to him, the state budget only affects approximately 18 to 15 percent of Indonesia's economic growth.

"Don't be mistaken. This means that 85 percent of the circulation of money and economic growth are in the private sector and state-owned enterprises," Jokowi explained.

The former Jakarta governor reported that investments taking place outside Java had been bigger that those in Java. Since 2021, investments in Java are 48 percent, while those outside Java are 51.7 percent.

"This shift is good. In the past, 60 percent of them are in Java," he said. (antara/mcr20/jpnn)
