jpnn.com, JAKARTA - The Indonesian government has allowed airlines to carry passengers up to full capacity, but with the condition that every passenger is required to pass a PCR test before traveling.
"Also, there must be readiness of facilities and infrastructure to support the implementation of health protocols in the field," Covid-19 task force spokesperson Wiku Adisasmito said in a virtual press conference with the Ministry of Transportation on Thursday (21/10).

This decision is stated in various policies, namely the Task Force Circular Number 21 of 2021, Instructions of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 53 and Number 54 of 2021, and a circular from the Ministry of Transportation.
"This is as part of a trial of easing mobility for the sake of economic recovery in the midst of a fairly controlled condition," Wiku said.

Passengers must have a vaccine card for at least the first dose and a certificate of a PCR test with a negeative result, with the sample taken within a maximum of 24 hours before departure.
The PCR test is mandatory in level 3 and 4 areas because there are no more rules for distancing between seats.

Wiku argued that a PCR test is the gold standard in capturing positive cases and is more sensitive than the rapid test.
"To optimize efforts to prevent transmission, airlines are required to prepare three empty rows for separation if symptomatic travelers are found during the trip," said Wiku.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation, Adita Irawati, said the government had allowed airlines to carry more than 70 percent of passengers in the previous regulation.
"Meanwhile, the airport terminal capacity is set at a maximum of 70 percent of the number of passengers during rush hours," she said. (tan/mcr20/jpnn)
