In a talk show interview with Conan O'Brien, White said her mother had taught her not to fear of death.

"She always said that we know everything - you know, sooner or later, somebody on the planet knows about everyhting. But the one thing nobody knows is what happens that moment after death," she said.

"So whenever we would lose somebody in the family or a friend, she'd say now he knows the secret. And it took all the fear of death," she continued.

In his heartwarming tribute post to White on Twitter, Ryan Reynolds said: "The world looks different now. She was great at defying expectation. She managed to grow very old and somehow, not old enough. We’ll miss you, Betty. Now you know the secret." (mcr20/jpnn)
