jpnn.com, JAKARTA - After the success of the animated films "Petualangan Singa Pemberani" (Adventures of the Brave Lion) and Riki Rhino in early 2020, Batavia Pictures continues its development of local intellectual properties.
Recently, Batavia Pictures acquired Kemala, a Line Webtoon comic in the horror genre.

Batavia Pictures believes it can grow Kemala rapidly with its experience, resources, and network.
This is because the Sweta Kartika's work has the power to convey historical, cultural, and human values in a fantasy-mystery format.

"Kemala is very likely to be made in the wide-screen animated film format. This is the first animated film in the horror genre in Indonesia," said Batavia Pictures producer Lucki Lukman Hakim in Jakarta recently.
Batavia Pictures would not only make Kemala into digital and print versions of comics but also develope it into other media formats.

According to Genesis producer Timothy, Kemala has the potential to go global through gaming platforms and theme parks.
"I find Kemala very interesting, in terms of concept, storyline, and graphics. This is what makes us interested in developing it further starting Season 2," said Timothy.
In the upcoming Season 2, Batavia Pictures and Kemala will collaborate with a clothing line from Bandung, MRJN.
The collaboration will result in an exclusive MRJN x Kemala merchandise collection and a Kemala print comic volume 2.
The collection will be released on October 31 on Halloween Day. (ded/mcr20/jpnn)
