Survivor of Mount Semeru Eruption Tells Her Story
jpnn.com, JAWA TIMUR - The eruption of Mount Semeru in East Java has left heartbreaking stories, including how survivors saved themselves when the disaster struck on Saturday (4/12).
Lenny (23), a resident of Curah Koboan hamlet, Sumberwuluh village, Candipuro district, Lumajang, told about her experience during that time.
"When hot clouds came, I was still in the house," she said, Monday (6/12).
For Lenny, this tragedy came unexpectedly because the activities of Mount Semeru had been common for her since childhood but not at this scale.
"Last year, there was an eruption as well, but not like what just happened," she said.
She said that when the hot clouds came, she could only cry.
At that time, Lenny was trapped with her child and mother. Meanwhile, her husband was out of town.
"I didn't even think of reading verses from the Qur'an. I could only cry out loud," she said.
Lenny was trapped with her child and mother, while her husband was out of town.
