Better.com Boss Apologizes After Firing 900 People Through Zoom
jpnn.com, BENGALURU - The CEO of Better.com has apologized after a video of him firing 900 people last week via Zoom calls went viral on social media.
Vishal Garg admitted to making a mistake in communicating the dismissal.
Founded in 2016 and headquartered in New York, Better.com offers mortgage and insurance products to homeowners through its online platform.
The apology followed strong criticism after the SoftBank-backed company laid off about nine percent of its workforce via video calls.
"I realize that the way I communicated this news made a difficult situation worse," Garg said in a letter dated Tuesday.
The CEO cited market, performance, and productivity as the reasons behind the decision to lay off employees in the United States and India.
