List of 2021 BWF Awardees: Indonesia Gets Two Prizes

jpnn.com, BALI - Indonesian badminton players Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu have been named the Pair of the Year by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

This award was given to Greysia and Apriyani for their outstanding performance this year.

The 2021 BWF Awards took place on the sidelines of the 2021 BWF World Tour Finals at the Bali International Convention Center and Westin Resort, Friday (3/12).

Greysia and Apriyani, the world's sixth-ranked pair, were gold medalists of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

In the final which took place last August, Greysia and Apriyani defeated Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan from China in two straight games, with a score of 21-19 and 21-15 in 55 minutes.

Greysia said it was an honor to receive the award from the BWF. She hoped that this award would make her motivated to achieve more.

"Thank you the BWF for this award. We hope to continue to do many positive things for the Indonesian people and everyone who loves badminton," said Greysia.

Besides Greysia and Apriyani, another Indonesian player who received an award from the BWF was Leani Ratri Oktila.

Leani, who successfully brought home two gold medals from the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, was chosen as the Female Para Badminton Player of the Year.
