Over 2,000 Prisoners in North Sumatra Get Christmas Remissions

jpnn.com, SUMATERA UTARA - A total of 2,471 prisoners in North Sumatra will receive remissions or reduced sentences during the Christmas holiday. 

North Sumatra correctional division head Erwedi Supriyatno said the prisoners who would receive remissions were part of the 3,828 Christian inmates.

He detailed that of those inmates, 15 would receive full remissions while the rest would receive partial remissions.

"All inmates will receive a sentence reduction of 15 days to two months," Erwedi said in a written statement, Wednesday (12/22).

The remissions will be handed over to the inmates on Christmas Day.

As of December 21, the number of prisoners in North Sumatra has reached 33,142 people. (mcr22/mcr20/jpnn)
