No Firecrackers During Christmas, New Year: Deputy Governor

jpnn.com, JAKARTA - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria has prohibited residents to play firecrackers during Christmas and New Year.

According to Riza, playing firecrackers will gather crowds in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We ask that there be no firecrackers, which can gather crowds," said Riza at the City Hall, Tuesday (21/12).

Other activities that cause crowds such as processions are also prohibited.

Riza suggested that people celebrate Christmas and New Year at home with their families.

"I ask all Jakartans to support good programs that don't encourage the spread of the virus," he said.

Jakarta is applying public activity restrictions (PPKM) level 1 during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays.

This is stated in the Governor's Decree Number 1437/2021, valid from December 14 to January 3.

The regulation is a derivative of the Home Affairs Minister Instruction Number 66/2021 regarding the prevention and control of Covid-19 during Christmas and New Year. (mcr4/mcr20/jpnn)
