jpnn.com, PAPUA - An armed criminal group opened fire on a Mobile Brigade (Brimob) post in Serambakom district, Pegunungan Bintang Regency, on Monday (13/12) morning.
Papua Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Ahmad Mustofa Kamal said that Brimob members responded to the shooting.

"It's true, it happened this morning," Kamal told reporters, Monday (13/12).
This mid-level police officer confirmed that there were no fatalities or injured victims due to the incident.

Terror acts carried out by armed groups have often occurred in the mountainous region of Papua.
On December 6, an armed group allegedly set fire to a school building in Oksibil.

According to Kamal, the group members, labeled as terrorists by the Indonesian government, are not happy with the progress of education in Papua.
"These armed groups do not want to see advanced education," said Kamal.
Meanwhile, on December 9, a military task force was involved in a gun battle with an unknown person in the Suru-Suru district, Yahukimo regency, Papua. One person was shot and killed. (cuy/mcr20/jpnn)
