Whole Family Burned to Death in Tambora, West Jakarta

jpnn.com, JAKARTA BARAT - One family consisting of five people died in the fire of four houses on Jalan Tambora I, West Jakarta, Wednesday (8/12) morning.

West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency operational head Sjukri Bahanan said that the incident occurred at around 04.42 a.m.

A total of 21 fire trucks and 105 personnel were deployed to extinguish the fire.

"Four houses, eleven motorbikes, and three cars caught fire in Tambora. Five victims died," said Sjukri in a written statement.

The five victims were identified with the initials AS (40), W (31), NM (81), T (7), and D (5).

Sjukri said the cause of the fire could be due to an electric short circuit.

"The fire is suspected to have occurred due to an electric short circuit," he said.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in about three hours. Losses due to the fire are estimated at Rp 1.5 billion. (cr1/mcr20/jpnn)
