jpnn.com, JAKARTA TIMUR - The infiltration well project in the East Flood Canal (BKT) area, East Jakarta, has gone viral on social media recently.

Based on JPNN.com's observation, the infiltration well appears to be built on the sidewalk of Jalan Kolonel Sugiono.

There are quite a lot of infiltration wells built along the roadside.

The construction is still in progress. The previously neatly arranged sidewalk must be dismantled for the construction of the well.

Only a few meters from this infiltration well, there is a BKT channel.

"The infiltration well is not to absorb water but to absorb Jakarta's regional budget," said Jakarta Residents Forum (FAKTA) chairman Azas Tigor Nainggolan, Thursday (11/11).

According to Tigor, the Jakarta administration should just carry out maintenance of drainage channels to prevent flooding instead of building infiltration wells.

"It's a shame to do such project. It's very obvious that [they have wasted] the regional budget," said Tigor. (cr1/mcr20/jpnn)
