jpnn.com, MATARAM - Tourism business actors in Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), are happy with the abolition of the PCR test requirement for air travellers.

Currently, tourists only need to use an antigen test result to be able to enjoy tourist attractions on the island of Lombok.

Head of the Mataram City Tourism Agency, H. Nizar Denny Cahyadi, said the policy was in line with the government's target of carrying out economic recovery in the midst of the pandemic.

In addition, the burden on tourists can be lighter because there is no need to carry out a PCR test, according to him.

"When the PCR rules were enforced, there were a lot of complaints from hotel owners and guests because PCR costs were more expensive than plane and hotel tickets," said Nizar.

With the abolition of the PCR test, the tourism agency is optimistic that it can boost hotel occupancy.

"Actually, to prevent the spread of Covid-19, what needs to be emphasized is supervision," he said.

One of the supervisory steps that will be taken for hotel guests is to massively use the PeduliLindungi application in hotels, restaurants, shopping centers and tourist attractions.

"Through the application, we can control the health status of the guests who come," he explained.

Talking about hotel occupancy, Denny said that in October 2021, it had reached around 60-70 percent dominated by domestic tourists.

The eight-day quarantine policy for foreign tourists is currently still an obstacle for international guests to come to Indonesia. (antara/lia/mcr20/jpnn)
