jpnn.com, JAKARTA - The Health Ministry has suspected that the first Omicron case in Indonesia came from Nigeria.
Covid-19 vaccination spokesperson Siti Nadia Tarmizi said that the Omicron variant entered Indonesia after an Indonesian citizen arrived from Nigeria on November 27.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin announced on Thursday (16/12) that a janitor with the initial N who worked at the Wisma Atlet Kemayoran emergency hospital had Omicron.
Nadia revealed that patient N had never traveled abroad before being confirmed to have Omicron.

The ministry concluded that N was infected from an Indonesian citizen who was quarantined at Wisma Atlet.
There were 169 Indonesian citizens from abroad who were quarantined at Wisma Atlet from November 24 to December 3.

Nadia explained that the detection of the first case of Omicron in Indonesia is one of the main functions of quarantine for everyone who enters Indonesia.
Nadia praised that the government's protection system had been running well against foreign arrivals infected with Covid-19.
