jpnn.com, JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) is set to form a cyber team to support Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan amid a controversy surrounding him after he went viral on social media for reading a suspected terrorist's book.

Jakarta MUI chairman KH Munahar Muchtar stated that the formation of the cyber team would not contradict the MUI fatwa.

Munahar emphasized that the cyber team was formed to fight buzzers on social media that often attacked clerics and discredited Anies's performance as the governor.

"When we defend religion and scholars, that's our obligation as Muslims," Munahar told JPNN.com, Saturday (20/11).
