jpnn.com, JAKARTA - Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah said that the Taiwanese government had reopened the placement of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) to Taiwan. The placement had been suspended since December 4, 2020, following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Taiwanese authorities will open the placement of candidates to Taiwan on November 11, 2021.

The encouraging news followed Taiwan Manpower Ministry manpower development agency director Tsai Meng-liang's statement that Indonesia's preparations to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic had been completed.
Tsai promised to strictly supervise the preventive efforts of the Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement Company (P3MI).

The Taiwanese authorities have also drawn up plans for a special program for the placement of migrant workers and have submitted them to the National Health Command Center (NHCC).
The realization of the plans requires collaboration and intense cooperation between Indonesia and Taiwan.

"Indonesia is the first partner to be invited to discuss matters that need to be prepared to place migrant workers to Taiwan," said Ida in a statement received on Wednesday (11/10).
Ida said that after Indonesia completed the preparations for the prevention of the pandemic, Taiwan would for the first stage accept the placement of 1,700 Indonesian migrant workers. Half of the workers will be placed in the formal sector, while the other half in the domestic sector.
"Taiwan recommends that we arrange the placement from November 11 to November 23, 2021," she said.
The minister emphasized that this special policy was propelled by the lack of manpower in Taiwan.
For the sake of economic development in the country and to meet the needs of the workforce, Taiwan submitted a proposal for a placement plan to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) to obtain the PMI placement approval.
"Alhamdulillah [thank God], Indonesia is the first country to get a placement after considering the quarantine requirements before and after arriving in Taiwan," said Ida.
The Taiwanese authorities also highly appreciate the success of the Indonesian government in reducing the number of Covid-19 cases.
"With the re-opening of the PMI placement, on behalf of the Indonesian government, we express our gratitude to the Taiwanese authorities for the good cooperation so far," said Ida. (mrk/mcr20/jpnn)
