jpnn.com, BALI - A French citizen, Dominique Marle (73), died while climbing Mount Agung in Bali, Friday (3/12).
Based on an official statement from the Bali Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the victim died at an altitude of 952 meters above sea level. The location was near Pasar Agung Lempuyang Temple, Karangasem.

At least eight Basarnas personnel, assisted by four Karangasem Police members and four Karangasem Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) officials, were deployed to evacuate the victim.
Based on information from the victim's family member, who also climbed Mount Agung at that time, the victim had repeatedly complained of shortness of breath since the beginning of the climb.

Nevertheless, the journey to conquer the highest mountain on the island continued.
Unfortunately, the victim slipped and fell, with the head hitting a nearby rock.

The Bali Basarnas received the information at around 3 p.m. local time from the Karangasem BPBD.
"The report we received said the victim was unconscious near the Pasar Agung Temple," said Bali Basarnas head Gede Darmada.
A rescue team from the Karangasem search and rescue post was immediately dispatched to the location.
The joint SAR team arrived at the location at around 04.05 p.m., when the victim was already lifeless.
The body was then taken to the Karangasem Hospital using an ambulance. (gie/mcr20/jpnn)
