Unmanned Flying Taxi, EHang 216, Finally Airs in Indonesia

jpnn.com, BALI - The self-driving flying taxi, named EHang 216, finally took to the skies in Bali last weekend.

This was revealed by the Executive Chairman of Prestige Aviation, Rudy Salim, who posted a picture on his personal Instagram account.

In the picture, the flying taxi was conducting a feasibility test for the first time in Bali.

Rudy said the test was a historic moment because Indonesia was finally able to fly the EHang 216 Autonomous in Bali.

"Prestige Aviation marks a historic moment in Indonesia today by flying the EHang 216 Autonomous Aerial Vehicle across the skies of Bali for the first time," Rudy said in the caption.

He hoped that the advancement would eventually contribute to the Indonesian transportation and logistics sectors.

"I have the utmost hope that this successful demo flight will finally spur and contribute the development of not only the travel industry of Bali but also logistics and transportation sectors in Indonesia," he said.

The EHang 216 is an electric powered passenger class autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV).

The vehicle is also claimed to be superior to a traditional manned aircraft. The design concept of EHang's technology is said to be of strict standards.

The flying car is said to be able to fly up to a height of 3,000 meters.

The EHang 216 is also capable of carrying a payload of up to 220 kilograms with a maximum speed of 130 km/h.

The flying vehicle, according to Rudy, already uses 100 percent of electric power to reduce environmental damage caused by emissions.

"This drone can be charged up to 220v or 380v in 1.5 hours of charging time," said Rudy. (ddy/mcr20/jpnn)
