Siti Nurbaya Leads Simultaneous Tree Planting in 34 Provinces
jpnn.com, BALI - Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya led a simultaneous tree planting activity titled "Young People Plant" in Karangasem Regency, Bali, Sunday (19/12).
Together with members of the Green Leaders Indonesia (GLI), young people across 34 provinces in Indonesia also participated in the planting activity.
The event aimed at facilitating young people with field knowledge of working together, being inclusive, and building awareness for environmental restoration.
The planting activity involved about 10,000 young people from all the provinces, with a total of 86,000 seedlings planted.
The minister hoped that this activity could strengthen collaboration and work inclusion between the central government, regional administrations, and the community in restoring the environment.
"The most important thing now is how we work together to solve and help, working with the facilitation of the central and local governments to restore the environment," said Siti, Sunday (12/19).
She also expressed her appreciation for the GLI for initiating the activity, which she said was a form of natural resource management business (UPSA).
The UPSA is a comprehensive soil and water conservation effort on a plot of dry land. It can be done for the construction of terraces and drainage channels, as well as the intensification of good farming by taking into account the sustainability of the land.
