In this match, An played very dominating.

Practically, Ongbamrungphan defended more because her playing pattern had been read by the opponent.

An said the key to her victory in this match was to play consistently and take advantage of every opportunity.

Ongbamrungphan, on the other hand, admitted that she had a hard time reading An's game. The world number 12 tried her best, but An's defense was too solid.

"An was very solid and smart in taking advantage of the opportunities that came up," said Ongbamrungphan.

The 25-year-old badminton player was disappointed because she failed to make a positive impression in the inaugural match of the BWF World Tour Finals. However, she was determined to rise in the upcoming matches.

"I am indeed disappointed with this result, but I have to stay positive and not let my guard down," said Ongbamrungphan.

This result places An temporarily at the top of Group B, just above Akane Yamaguchi from Japan.

An has a +21 point difference, while Akane has a +17 point difference after beating Yeo Jia Min from Singapore with a score of 21-11 and 21-14 in the previous match. (mcr15/mcr20/jpnn)
