Nadiem: Traditional Music to Be Included in Educational Programs

jpnn.com, JAKARTA - Traditional music learning will be included in formal and informal education programs, Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim has said during the 2021 Indonesian Traditional Music Festival on Wednesday (27/10).

"We plan to include the learning of traditional music of the archipelago in formal and informal education. This is with the aim that Indonesian children will become cultural preservers," said Nadiem.

He said the Indonesian-Lake Toba Traditional Music Festival was part of an effort to promote culture.

"Collaborations to advance culture are very important," he said.

This was concurred by the Director General of Culture of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Hilmar Farid.

Hilmar said that the 2021 music festival focuses on the issue of a generation transfer in an effort to preserve culture.
