Airfast Helicopter Crew, Passengers Injured After Losing Contact

jpnn.com, BOVEN DIGOEL - Airfast crew members and passengers were injured after the helicopter lost contact in Boven Digoel regency, Papua, Thursday (30/12).

Three people, namely Captain Agung Miharja, engineer Fauzan Huda, and a passenger named Kanisius, were evacuated to Timika from Tanah Merah, Boven Digoel, Friday (31/12).

"The evacuation was carried out so that the three victims could receive intensive treatment for their injuries," said Merauke Search and Rescue (SAR) Office head Supriyanto Ridwan.

Aside from the three victims, there was another passenger of the helicopter named Iwan. At the request of the family, Iwan is still being treated at a hospital in Boven Digoel.

Supriyanto said that earlier this morning, the four were evacuated from Kali Silet to Tanah Merah and underwent an examination at the Tanah Merah Hospital.

The Merauke SAR Office received a signal distress from the helicopter, Thursday (30/12), at around 7 p.m. local time from the direction of Kawe village, Boven Digoel.

The helicopter with flight code PK-ODB was last detected at an altitude of 1,067 feet and a speed of 43 knots. (antara/mcr20/jpnn)
