Cargo Plane Crashes in Papua, Pilot Killed

jpnn.com, ILAGA - A Smart Air cargo plane with flight number PK-SNN crashed at Aminggaru Ilaga Airport, Puncak regency, Papua, on Monday (25/10) morning.

The pilot of the plane has reportedly died.

Puncak Police chief Commissioner Nyoman Puniasaat confirmed the incident.

The pilot of the ill-fated plane died when he was about to be taken to the Ilaga community health center. The co-pilot, on the other hand, was conscious, and he is still being treated at the local health center. It is not confirmed whether the co-pilot has suffered any injuries.

According to Nyoman, the plane carried cargo from Timika.

Aminggaru Ilaga Airport head, Herman Sujito, who was contacted separately, said the accident might have been caused by fog covering the airport.
