Riza Patria Says 212 Reunion Can't Be Held at Monas Due to Covid-19

jpnn.com, JAKARTA - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria has said that the 212 reunion cannot be held at the National Monument (Monas), Central Jakarta.

Riza said the current condition of the Covid-19 pandemic would restrict the activity.

"Monas is not possible because it is still closed. We are still in the middle of a pandemic," Riza said, Monday (29/11).

He added that the 212 reunion could not be held at the Horse Statue near Monas as well without a crowd permit from the Jakarta Police.

"There must also be permission from the Covid-19 Task Force, which must consider [Covid-19] transmission and so on," said Riza.

In the end, the 212 reunion will be held at the Az Zikra Islamic Boarding School, Bogor Regency, owned by the late Ustaz Arifin Ilham.

Riza assessed that it was a wise decision to move the location of the event.

"I think this is a very good decision. This provides an advantage for scholars of the 212 alumni who want to gather," said Riza.

Previously, the 212 grand reunion, set to be held in the Monas area, Central Jakarta, was cancelled.

After a committee meeting within the 212 Alumni Brotherhood (PA), the location of the event was changed.

"The 212 reunion will be held on a limited basis and will follow health protocols at the Az Zikra Sentul Mosque, Bogor, West Java," reads a press release from PA 212, Monday (29/11). (mcr1/mcr20/jpnn)
