Head of the operational section of the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency, Gatot Sulaeman, said the fire occurred at around 03.50 p.m.

One fire brigade consisting seven personnel was deployed to extinguish the fire.
"The incident started when the driver hit the gas hard," said Gatot in a written statement.

The hood of the car emitted smoke, and then the vehicle caught fire.
"The suspected cause of the fire was a short circuit on the car body," said Gatot.

There were no casualties in the incident.
The firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in about 20 minutes.
