jpnn.com, JAKARTA - Indonesian legendary badminton player Verawaty Fajrin passed away at the Dharmais Hospital, Jakarta, Sunday (21/11).
She died from lung cancer at the age of 64.

Her body was buried in the Tanah Kusir Public Cemetery in South Jakarta.
President Joko Widodo expressed his condolences.

"Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rojiun [from Him we come from and to Him we return], my condolences for the passing of Ibu Hj. Verawaty Fajrin this morning in Jakarta," Jokowi wrote on Instagram.
Jokowi also uploaded a photo of himself carrying the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games torch with Verawaty.

The President said that during her lifetime, Verawaty had brought Indonesia on the world sporting stage and made the country proud.
"Goodbye, Ibu Verawaty. May all your dedication, charity, and worship get a proper reward from Allah and all the family members left behind be strong," said Jokowi.
Verawaty won various international badminton titles in different categories. Her career spanned from the late 1970s to the late 1980s. (antara/mcr20/jpnn)
