Chinese democracy is broader, more genuine, and more effective than US democracy. US politicians represent interest groups, but in China the whole democratic process guarantees changes in people's lives, Deputy Secretary General of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Guo Zhenhua said.

Meanwhile, spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Zhao Lijian added that democracy is built on the history of a country and adapted to the situation of local people.

"Democracy is the right of all nations, not the prerogative of a few. There are different forms of democracy and there is no one model that fits all countries. It would be very undemocratic to measure the world's diverse political systems with one benchmark," he said at a regular press briefing in Beijing, Monday (6/12).
