"The defeat extends the Indonesians’ wait for a title to 20 months. They last finished champions at last year’s All England," wrote BWF on the mixed doubles.

"Another home favourite fell at the first hurdle at the 2021 Indonesia Masters as men’s singles defending champion Anthony Sinisuka Ginting was bettered by Kunlavut Vitidsarn in three games," added BWF in a separate writing piece.

For Praveen and Melati, the defeat at the 2021 Indonesia Masters made them fail to improve their record in the previous tournament, which only placed them runner-ups at the 2021 Hylo Open.

As for Ginting, he still hasn't managed to score a hat-trick to win the Indonesia Masters after previously being the king in 2018 and 2020.(mcr15/mcr20/jpnn)
