jpnn.com, BALI - German mixed doubles Jones Ralfy Jansen and Linda Efler surprisingly defeated the fifth seed from Malaysia, Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying, during the top 32 math of the 2021 Indonesia Masters.

In the match, which was held at the Bali International Convention Center, Nusa Dua, Bali, Tuesday (16/11) morning, Jansen and Efler won two straight games, 21-13 and 21-19, over Chan and Goh in just 42 minutes.

Jansen admitted that the key to their victory in this match was to play without a burden.

Jansen and Elfer, who are still a new pair, looked solid throughout the match, not letting the Malaysian duo get the chance to develop their game.

"We are a new pair, we also know the opponent is not in good condition, so we take advantage of that weakness. We play as if we have nothing to lose," said Jansen.

This result led Jones and Elfer to qualify for the top 16 and play against other Malaysian representatives, Hoo Pang Ron and Cheah Yee See, who have won a match against Japanese pair Yujiro Nishikawa and Saori Ozak.

Jansen said that he would apply the same strategy in the next match, which was to appear carefree but concentrate fully on the field. (mcr16/mcr20/jpnn)
