jpnn.com, JAKARTA - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said on Thursday (16/12) that the Omicron Covid-19 variant had arrived in Indonesia.
"Last night, the Health Ministry confirmed that a patient, N, had Omicron," said Budi.

According to Budi, the first detected Omicron patient was a janitor who served Covid-19 patients.
"This worker had not traveled abroad," said the minister.

Budi added that the first case of Omicron had been confirmed to the Germany-based GISAID database.
"GISAID has confirmed that the sequenced data is Omicron," said Budi.

Omicron was first discovered in Africa in late November and has spread to many countries.
