jpnn.com, JAKARTA - The Indonesian national soccer team had to submit 0-1 to Afghanistan in the international test match at Gloria Stadium, Antalya, Turkey, on Tuesday (16/11) night.

The Garuda squad failed to earn redemption after last May they lost with a score of 2-3.

The two teams actually appeared quite balanced. Indonesia seemed to be playing more defensively with a quick counter-attack strategy. There were two ripe opportunities, but none of them resulted in a goal.

On the other hand, Afghanistan appeared quite aggressive by continuing to confine the defense of the Garuda players.

The Garuda squad was able to threaten the Afghan team in the fourth minute as Ricky Kambuaya received a sweet pass from Witan Sulaeman. Unfortunately, Ricky's kick went sideways.

In the eighth minute, Dedik Setiawan's collaboration with Witan almost led to a goal. However, Witan's shot, which was made in an unmarked position, was wide.

After that, Afghanistan, who already understood Indonesia's style of play, continued to attack Garuda's defense. A mistake from the opponent team was used by Farshad Noor to shoot, but it also went wide.

The slick cooperation of Evan Dimas, Ricky, and Dedik had threatened the Afghan goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, Dedik's kick was still weak and failed to rip the opponent's net.

Indonesian goalkeeper M. Riyandi made a brilliant save in the 24th minute by securing a header from Afghanistan's Fareed Sadat.

Although successive attacks occured, no goals were successfully created by both teams. As a result, the score 0-0 did not change until the first half was over.

In the second half, Indonesia tried to appear directly pressing. Afghanistan, which had learned from the first meeting, seemed calmer in anticipating the attack built by Evan and his friends.

The substitution was made by Indonesia because Elkan Baggott could not continue the match. He needed treatment after his head collided with an Afghan player's leg.

The Ipswich Town player had time to continue playing, but he suddenly fell on the field and the coaching team decided to pull him off.

In the 73rd minute, Shin Tae Yong's polish team got a chance to make a goal as substitute Ezra Walian escaped the offside trap. Unfortunately, the Persib player's kick did not bear fruit.

Six minutes later, Afghanistan hit back through Omid Popalzay. The 25-year-old winger almost broke into M. Riyandi's goal after taking advantage of a cut back from his colleague. Unfortunately, the ball soared over the bar.

When engrossed in attacking, Indonesia actually missed through attacks built by the opposing team.

Taking advantage of the chaos after Mustafa Hadid released a pass, Popalzay immediately cheated on the ball and broke into Riyandi's goal. Afghanistan led with 1-0.

Indonesia is lagging behind trying to apply pressure. Opportunities were created by Witan and Ezra. Unfortunately, the two players' kick failed to meet the target.

Until the match was over, the score was 0-1 unchanged and Indonesia was defeated by Afghanistan.

Prior to the match, Indonesia's coach, Shin Tae Yong, had expressed his optimism that the Garuda squad could revolt against their opponents after previously losing. In fact, luck has not been on his side. (dkk/mcr20/jpnn)
