jpnn.com, LUMAJANG - Two more victims of the eruption of Mount Semeru in Lumajang, East Java, were found on Thursday (30/12) morning.
Volunteers found the two bodies in North Kebondeli hamlet, Sumberwuluh village, Candipuro district.

The two victims were allegedly trapped in their truck they were driving during the eruption of the highest mountain in Java.
When found, the two bodies were no longer recognizable. Volunteers were able to identify the victims through their vehicle plate.

Sugiyono, one of the volunteers, said they found the truck buried in sand as deep as four meters.
When it was first discovered, only the head of the truck was visible. The volunteers then carried out excavations using heavy equipment.

"The two of them were in the truck, and the windows of the truck were broken. Maybe they were trying to save themselves," said Sugiyono.
The two victims were identified as Hambali (58) and M. Faisal Akbar (20), residents of Purwoasri village, Gumukmas district, Jember.
"As residents said, they were father and son. They used to take sand from the H. Satuhan mining site," Sugiyono said.
The two bodies have been evacuated to dr. Haryoto Hospital in Lumajang.
So far, the number of deaths from the eruption of Mount Semeru has reached 56. (mcr26/mcr20/jpnn)
