jpnn.com, JAWA TIMUR - The death toll from the eruption of Mount Semeru in East Java has reached 46 people as of Saturday (11/12) afternoon, according to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).
"Meanwhile, nine other people are still missing, 18 suffer serious injuries, and 11 suffer minor injuries," said BNPB disaster information and communication center head Abdul Muhari.

A joint team, consisting of Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) personnel, military personnel, police officers, local disaster mitigation officials, volunteers, and residents, was divided into four groups.
Three of these groups focused on searching in three sectors, while the other was on standby to evacuate and assist in collecting data on residents affected by the disaster.

The first sector group conducted a search in Dusun Kajar Kuning and Curah Koboan. The second group was in the Pasir H. Satuhan mining area. The third group was in Kebondeli hamlet and Kampung Renteng.
Abdul said weather conditions sometimes hindered the search for missing victims.

As of Saturday (11/12), the total number of residents evacuated was nearly 10,000.
BNPB, assisted by volunteers, continues to strengthen data collection in the field so that vulnerable survivors can be identified immediately.
The survivors were placed across 115 evacuation posts in Pasirian, Candipuro, and Pronojiwo districts.
In addition to search and rescue operations, authorities also prioritized emergency services for affected residents and the restoration of facilities and infrastructure. (antara/mcr13/mcr20/jpnn)
