jpnn.com, JAKARTA - Chairman of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI), Said Iqbal, has urged the Jakarta administration to revise the increase in the provincial minimum wage (UMP) for Jakarta in 2022.
"We ask Anies to lift the UMP increase. If it is not revoked within three days, we will return here," he said during a demonstration in front of the Jakarta City Hall, Thursday (25/11).

Iqbal said that MK's new decision that deemed the Job Creation Law "unconstitutional" would not apply because the government and the legislators still had two years to re-discuss it.
"The House and the government have time to re-discuss article by article of the Job Creation Law. Governors throughout Indonesia should revoke the UMP regulation," said Iqbal.

He hoped that regional heads increased the UMP according to the results of the wage negotiations in their respective regions.
"There should not be a legal vacuum because the applicable law is the old law," he said.

Previously, Anies set the increase of the 2022 UMP at Rp 37,749 or around 0.8 percent.
This number has been estimated a while ago, when the Manpower Ministry announced that the average increase in the UMP nationally was only 1.09 percent.
The slight increase was due to changes in the wage calculation formula since the issuance of the Job Creation Law and its derivative regulation regarding wages, namely Government Regulation Number 36/2021.
Iqbal emphasized that the government should make a 4-5 percent increase from the current figure instead.
